The DeWalt DWE43214NVS variable speed grinder has a lot of power and variable speed which makes it ideal for precision work. However, some customers reported that it gets too hot when in use and that dust builds up inside the tool, which leads to less heat removal from the tool, and ultimately creates a risk of shock. The grinder is missing a soft start and an additional small motor just to power the fan for a variable speed grinder. The good thing is that the protection systems built into the tool are effective in protecting both the user and the tool - it stops rapidly when releasing the trigger, stops instantly if the attachment gets bound up, and shuts the tool off if it overheats before damage can be done. The grinder has a 5/8 -11 spindle and thread, is compatible with 5" diameter x 1/4" thick grinding wheels and has a variable speed ranging from 1-2200 RPMs. It also features a type 1 blade guard in the package and allows for the handle to be attached to either side of the gear case to accommodate left or right-handed users.
