This Tascam CD-A580 Combo offers the ability to play CDs, cassettes and record to USB in digital format with an MP3 encoding capability. The product receives criticism for its high price and limited functionality. The MP3 encoder only records at 128 Kbps which is too low of a bitrate for an expensive Recorder Combo of a well-known Brand. The tape deck has mediocre specs and doesn't offer cassette tape-to-PC recording. The CD player doesn't have a lot of features to make disc flaws inaudible, so it will pause if there are any issues, and the drawer automatically closes after being open for 1 minute. The unit also lacks any Dolby NR or CD recording capability, which would have made it far more useful. Nevertheless, it is easy to set up, and the unit works well to transfer old cassettes to USB. Overall, it's a mediocre integrated boombox that offers convenience.
